Excerpt: Two St. Petersburg police officers shot and killed a 40-year-old woman who appeared about to stab another woman with a large barbecue fork Tuesday night.
Officers went to the home of Wendy Ott, 5227 Second Ave. N., just after 8 p.m. in response to a 911 hang-up call. Emergency operators called back and on the open phone line heard yelling and crashing sounds, police said.
When officers arrived, they heard a fight going on behind the locked door of the house, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.
After breaking in, police found Julie Goodson pinning Ott to the kitchen floor and holding a large barbecue fork to Ott's throat, police said.
Goodson refused orders to drop the fork and then reared back and raised the fork as if to stab Ott, police said.
