Excerpt: Frantic calls from a Dallas woman who told her husband that someone had kidnapped her and their three young children set off an intense search over the weekend, according to police documents.
But that investigation, which included state and federal law enforcement agencies, ultimately led to the woman's arrest.
Mirna Rodriguez, 27, admitted she made the story up to hide the fact that she was in Oklahoma having an affair, the documents say.
"First and foremost, there is relief," Dallas police Lt. Edwin Ruiz-Diaz said. "There's a sense of OK, good, the kids are OK. ... There's a sense of frustration after that because you have spent all of these resources in something that could have been avoided."
Rodriguez was arrested on a charge of making a false report, a Class B misdemeanor. She posted $500 bond Sunday and was released from the Dallas County Jail. She could not be reached for comment Monday....
