OCEAN TOWNSHIP --- Police are searching for the armed robber who stole money from a customer at a gas station in the Seaview Mall.
Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a robber went to the Costco Gas Station, displayed a gun and demanded money, police said.
But the gas station does not accept cash payments - only debit and credit cards - so the 48-year-old worker did not have any money to hand over, said Detective Lt. Steven R. Peters.
That's when the thief turned his attention to a 46-year-old customer who was sitting in his vehicle, waiting for gasoline, police said.
He stole money from that man, then ran away, toward Brielle Avenue, said Peters.
Police searched the area with help from a Tinton Falls K9 unit, but could not find the robber.
The thief was described as a black male, possibly in his 20s, who was about 6 feet tall and had a thin build. He wore dark-colored pants and a maroon or dark-red hooded sweatshirt and was armed with a dark-colored handgun....
