Excerpt: Michigan City Police are investigating a deadly car accident after a 15-year old was hit by a car.

The accident happened just after 9 o'clock Friday night at the intersection of US 20 and Franklin Street.

Police say the teenager was helping push a car off the road when an SUV rear-ended the car and pinned the teen underneath.

Emergency responders freed the teen and transported him to Saint Anthony's Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities say neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the accident, and they're still investigating the incident.
