NEW YORK --- A 5-year-old boy slipped out of his mother's grip in the Bronx on Monday morning and ran up a very long flight of steps to the No. 1 train.
He then took a very long ride to the last stop in Manhattan, a total of 34 stops. But thanks to many good Samaritans, the story has a happy ending.
CBS 2 HD was there when the little boy was brought back to the Bronx.
It probably felt to little Sammy Sosa – yes, it's true, that's the little tyke's name -- that once he was back with mom, after jumping on that train, that everything was all right. Uh, except for an interrogation from a sergeant at the 50th Precinct.
"I have only one question: Did you pay the toll?" joked the officer.
"Toll," "fare" -- as the boy's mother explained in Spanish. After he took off Monday morning from a bodega at 225th & Broadway in the Bronx, he ran -- mom said he's fast -- up the block and around the corner and kept...
