Patterson resident Betty Brown captured the world's attention in 2006 when a National Geographic documentary featured her claims that she heard some of Amelia Earhart's last known words while tuning in to shortwave radio broadcasts in 1937.
Last week, a new Discovery Channel documentary retold her story while expounding on recent evidence, including what might be a finger bone and a glass moisturizer bottle found on the island of Nikumaroro, where an aviation investigation group thinks Earhart died.
Brown watched the film with her daughter, Dona Harper, also a Patterson resident, when it aired Saturday, Dec. 11.
