WHITTIER — A Jackson County woman was shot and killed early Friday morning after her uncle mistook her for an intruder, police believe.

Hannah Kathryn Frey, 24, entered the home of her uncle sometime before 3:30 a.m. in this small community east of Bryson City, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
