COCOA BEACH -- Dennis Kuhles thought his eyes were deceiving him when he caught the first glimpse of his in-ground concrete swimming pool floating in his backyard.
Floodwaters from Tropical Storm Fay's four days of torrential rain had caused the pool to pop up out of the ground.
"It rained and rained, and it started coming in my door," Kuhles said, standing next to the kidney-shaped concrete bowl sitting next to his house like a listing ship. "The next morning, I woke up to this."
Five months after the ordeal began with the arrival of Tropical Storm Fay, Kuhles' swimming pool remains about 4 feet out of the ground, its deck is in pieces and erosion has caused a four-foot drop close up to the back of his concrete-block home.
